Secondary Glazing involves adding another slim-line window in addition to your existing windows. It is a cost effective and efficient method of insulating & sound proofing your windows. By fitting our Secondary Glazing you could save around 10% on your heating bills. The Energy Saving Trust states that it is an ‘ideal solution if you are unable to replace your existing windows with double glazing’.

Secondary glazing is perfect for use in Listed Buildings and conservation areas. Made from strong lightweight aluminium, it can be made to be very slim and discreet. Considered a reversible change, secondary glazing is recommended by English Heritage and the Listed Property Owners Club.

Having a 100mm air gap between the secondary glazing and the existing windows (glass to glass) will provide an optimum gap for sound and heat performance. The air gap provides an additional barrier, preventing heat and sound from passing through. We have deeper sub frames for the purpose of ‘reveal’ fixing the secondary glazing to give this gap. If only a smaller gap can be used then secondary glazing is still very effective as the performance difference between say a 70mm gap and 100mm gap is only small.

With the options of white, brown and silver anodised as standard finishes, we can also powder coat the aluminium frames to any RAL colour you may want.

Secondary glazing comes in four designs allowing for us to match the existing window design where necessary and to allow for easy access to the existing window for opening and cleaning:

1. Vertical sliding
2. Horizontal Sliding
3. Lift Out
4. Hinged (Butt or friction)
