Continuing our good relationship with local community schools, Windmill windows were asked to completely overhaul the 6th form corridor at Wheatley Park Academy.
The current corridor was made out of soft wood timber, suffering from rot and wood worm, including a security door with a keyless fob entry. This along with the then current single glazed glass, made the corridor not thermally efficient with the security not meeting the required standard.
Windmill Windows changed the lower ship lap with 28mm insulated panelling and the upper ship lap with uPVC ship lap. The windows were replaced with bevel profiled ‘A’ rated uPVC and the door replaced with a commercial aluminium entrance door. By using aluminium the longevity of the door, due to high traffic use, and security were increased to its best possible potential, with the ability to add the keyless fob entry door handle that was required. All the glass used was 28mm width units, argon gas filled K glass to maximise the thermal efficiency. All glass units were also toughened and laminated for safety and enhanced security being a high traffic area.
The result was an extremely clean transformation with a very contented school and property manager.
